Gerdau is currently seeking a Machinist/Centerless Grinder Operatorfor its Pleasant Prairie, WI facility.

Basic Function:

Convert turned bars of varying length into ground bar that is prepared for polishing operation. Actively work to correct any unsafe act or condition and work to prevent potential safety hazards.

Primary Job Functions:

Responsible for the safety of all individuals in the plant
Operates the rough and finish centerless grinders through use of the production schedule and communication with shift leaders
Grinds various sized turned bars to exacting size and surface tolerances
Actively supports all Gerdau Management System activities i.e. 5S, Failure analysis etc.
Provides ideas and feedback that are used in areas of continual improvement of all facility activities
Supports all job functions by being cross trained in each area
Familiarity with ISO standards and requirements
Exercises independent judgment as needed
Observe and follow all safety policies and procedures in compliance with the organizational rules, while seeking continuous improvement.
Follow all environmental requirements and regulations, while seeking continuous improvement.
The incumbent is responsible for his/her safety as well as his/her colleagues, seeking continuous improvement related to employee's health and safety, environment and the process efficiency and customer's satisfaction with the quality of products and services. All efforts must be directed for preventive actions.
Any additional duties that may be assigned by management

Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
3-5 years' experience in machining, grinding, CNC operation or centerless grinding
Prior experience operating a crane
Must be available to work overnight shift 11:30pm-7:30am, fulltime
Lifting up to 50 pounds
